Legislators are increasing a host of traffic penalties, starting Feb. 1, to raise $16 million. Speeding-ticket fines will increase by $10 to $35, rising to $108 to $258 depending on speed driven. Other moving violations, including failure to yield, failure to maintain a driving lane, not using a turn signal or running a red light, will increase by $10, with the highest fine set at $208. Drivers will also lose the 18 percent discount on speeding tickets they can get for attending a drivers-education course.
